As the UN Conference on Climate Change – COP 21 – stands at our door steps, we would like to alert you to some useful websites to follow the Summit’s developments in Paris. In the meantime, let’s keep praying for courageous deliberations and decisive outcomes that our world and planet Earth so urgently need.

Pause for Peace 2015

During the 2013 World Youth Day celebrations in Brazil, Pope Francis called the world to greater solidarity: "I would like to make an appeal to those in possession of greater resources, to public authorities and to all people of good will who are working for social justice: never tire of working for a more just world, marked by greater solidarity…"

DPI/NGO Conference 2014

From 27-29 August 2014, the NGO community at the United Nations gathered at UN Headquarters in New York for the 65th DPI/NGO Conference. It was nice to be back in New York after six years of being “on the road” due to renovations of UN Headquarters. This year’s conference had as title: 2015 and Beyond, Our Action Agenda.

A transforming development agenda?

When the international community gathered for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – Rio +20 – in June 2012, it mandated the formulation of sustainable development goals which should be coherent with and integrated into the UN’s post 2015 development agenda. An Open Working Group was tasked to articulate and propose a set of SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals – that would guide the world’s development framework for the period 2016-2030.

Think•Eat•Save

Think·Eat·Save – that is the theme of this year’s World Environment Day (June 5). Did you know that more than a billion tons of food is being wasted every year? While nearly 870 million people go to bed hungry every night and at least an equal number of adults around the world are overweight, food is lost and wasted in unacceptable amounts.
